M. Scott Peck
Being together does not automatically make us a community. This reading from M. Scott Peck’s The Different Drum invites us to consider what it takes to build genuine belonging—where people can speak honestly, respect differences, and share responsibility for life together. In a startling, life–affirming work by one of America's foremost thinkers, Dr. M. Scott Peck examines the concept of community, its roots, its development and most importantly, it's rewards for contemporary America.
Must someone lose for me to succeed? Explore an approach to relationships that seeks mutual benefit while honoring our own needs and those of others. In Raising Royalty, community grows as we learn to pursue outcomes that respect everyone involved. Here is where community begins.
Listening asks us to make room for another person’s experience before defending our own position. Consider how seeking understanding can change a conversation, reduce assumptions, and strengthen relationships. Community grows when people feel heard and learn to express themselves with the same respect they offer others.
Different perspectives can help us discover possibilities we would miss alone. Synergy grows when we listen, value each person’s strengths, and work together to create a better solution. In Raising Royalty, community means learning how our different contributions can strengthen the whole.
Purpose — The King is a Raising Royalty learning experience that helps participants explore what matters to them, recognize how they contribute, and take practical steps toward a meaningful life.
Through selected videos, guided conversation, hands-on activities, and participant workbook exercises, we explore how purpose shapes everyday actions, how belonging helps people grow, and how courage helps us move forward.
Adult workshops and youth after-school experiences address these shared ideas through activities suited to each audience. Connected experiences can help parents and young people continue the conversation at home. Workshops can also be adapted for church groups.
Let’s discuss your group, your goals, and a single workshop or multi-session journey that fits your setting.
